NBA Mock Draft - Version 1.0 (Seconda Parte)

A bit late, but here is the second half of my first mock draft. I believe that the 2.0 of the mock draft will be out this coming Monday. I think that there will be plenty of moving up/down for a couple of players, but I do not want to get into that, and let you enjoy the 1.0 version.

15) Phoenix Suns take Russell Westbrook Sophomore PG/SG (6′3″, 187 lbs.) from UCLA. The reason why Westbrook fell in my opinion is not because he doesn’t have talent, he does have plenty, but because he is a more of a non-shooting point, and in the NBA points are always loved!

16) Philadelphia 76′ers take Kosta Koufos Freshman C (7′1″, 245 lbs.) from Ohio State. The defense needs work for this young man, but he can play inside and out on offense and can come in with the team and contribute from day one.

17) Toronto Raptors take Marresse Speights Sophomore PF/C (6′10, 245 lbs.) from Florida. On a team that can use a big man to help them inside on both sides of the ball I think Speights will do great. I truly believe that Speights is going to work hard and be the a power on a team that needs one.

18) Washington Wizards take JaVale McGee Sophomore C (7′0″, 237 lbs.) from Nevada. I think this pick is going to back fire for the Wizards, because I see McGee as a project on a team that needs help now. Maybe Washington sees a lot that I do not, but for me this is not going to help a team that just doesn’t seem to end up on the right side of the equation come playoffs time.

19) Cleveland Cavaliers take Robin Lopez Sophomore C (7′0″, 255 lbs.) from Stanford. We know one thing, LeBron James is not in need of another guard. The leader of the Cavs need a big man who can help him, and that is what Lopez can do from day one. He does not need to be a finesse player for Cleveland, but he needs to do the dirty work for the team, and I think that he will.

20) Denver Nuggets take Ty Lawson Sophomore PG (5′11″, 175 lbs.) from North Carolina. The speed is the reason why Lawson will go here. He is going to make the squad led by Melo quicker and get them easy free baskets as he can be a one man fast break. He might not be a starter from day one, but he is sure going to change the game when he does come in.

21) New Jersey Nets take Bill Walker Freshman SG/SF (6′6″, 225 lbs.) from Kansas State. If he can improve the shot from behind the arc he is going to become a good player. He needs to get his shot off the dribble as accurate as when he is set, his ball handling skills are ok, but need some more work on. Walked has had some turnover issues in the past, but with some work on that he should become a good pick for the Nets.

22) Orlando Magic take Chris Douglas Roberts Junior SG (6′7″, 200 lbs.) from Memphis. This is going to be the piece that is going to make the Magic very good. With the way this young man can hit it from the outside he will do just fine in opening up the game for Dwight Howard down low.

23) Utah Jazz take Chase Budinger Sophomore SG/SF (6′7″, 190 lbs.) from Arizona. I know that Budinger would be a steal so low, but with some many good talented players some are going to fall in this draft. I think that he will be another one that drops more than people expected.

24) Seattle Supersonics take Roy Hibbert Senior C (7′2″, 272 lbs.) from Georgetown. The big man from G’Town should have come out last year, he would have been a lottery pick. Now, he is going to get lucky and go play with one of the best young players in the league. He should help out with his rebounding as long as he keeps his intesity going on a daily basis.

25) Houston Rockets take Brandon Rush Junior SG/SF (6′7″, 211 lbs.) from Kansas. This is going to be a great pick for the Rockets, a great worker, will find a way to get open and hit his shots. This is going to help out the big two of the team. He might not be your “lights out” starter, but he is going to be a player that comes in and hits his shots.

26) San Antonio Spurs take Courtney Lee Senior SG (6′5″, 200 lbs.) from Western Kentucky. He is going to make it into the first round (and maybe will move up even higher than this slot) because of his fluid motions and quick first step that is essential for a shooter. And shooting he can, and do it well!

27) New Orleans Hornets take Jason Thompson Senior C (6′11″, 250 lbs.) from Rider. A great addition that will help Chris Paul get even more assists as he will be a force inside for any team in this draft. He might not be as ready as other big men in the game, but he will make his presence felt as he works hard on and off the field to get better.

28) Memphis Grizzlies take Wayne Ellington Sophomore SG (6′4″, lbs.) from North Carolina. This is the perfect place for Ellington, coming off the bench and hitting the three’s when needed. I think that without the pressure of being a starter and having to hit the shot when he comes in will be a pleasent change than being one of the ones that has to carry the team. I think that will be the way you see this young man being utilized.

29) Detroit Pistons take DeVon Hardin Senior C (6′11″, 250 lbs.) from California. The big man is going to fill in a spot that will begin to open up as the Pistons’ age begins to show. It will be interesting how the offseason goes for this team as the new head coach comes in for Detroit.

30) Boston Celtics take JJ Hickson Freshman PF (6′9, 242 lbs.) from N.C. State. He has the talent but is raw. Might be a reach to see him in the first round, but I think that he will squeeze in if the teams do not begin to go look overseas before the beginning of round two. If they do Hickson could fall into the 40’s.
